SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)

New York State Education law requires every New York City Public School to establish a School Leadership Team (SLT), which is responsible for developing a Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) and a budget that allocates sufficient resources to support and implement the school’s educational policies. PS41 parents/guardians are encouraged to share their opinions on educational policy with SLT representatives, either at PTA meetings or by emailing SLT@ps41.org, so that the elected officials can represent the many voices of our community.

Membership

The SLT is composed of a minimum of 10 members, including the Principal, a PTA President and the United Federation of Teachers chapter leader who are automatically appointed, and an equal representation of teachers and parents/guardians who are elected by PS41 parents/guardians each spring to serve two-year terms. Parent/guardian participation requires time, dedication, creativity and hard work, but membership is an extremely valuable contribution and helps ensure that the parent/guardian voice is represented in important decisions that affect teaching and learning in our school.
